Welcome to the new home of Youth Giving (previously YouthGiving.org by Candid), the global ecosystem powered by The International Social Impact Institute®, to catalyze the impact of young change-makers and leaders around the world. The Youth Giving movement was launched by Candid five years ago as a platform to track the activism and philanthropy of youth around the world.
The inaugural virtual Youth Giving Summit launched on International Youth Day (August 12, 2022), and coincided with the handover of the Youth Giving platform from Candid to The International Social Impact Institute. The Institute was founded in 2020 by Elizabeth (Liz) Ngonzi, an award-winning social entrepreneur, educator and coach, to provide people and organizations with access to the resources, knowledge and networks that would enable them to clarify and share their stories, and to build an ecosystem of like-minded stakeholders for increased impact.
This Summit focused on how to inspire, connect, and activate today’s youth to create transformation in their own communities, through three main panel discussions. These discussions were supplemented by five transformation-focused talks, highlighting five of our twenty-two Youth Summit Ambassadors from five different continents. These young leaders showcased their success in becoming the change they want to see in the world – and driving real impact.
Consistent with this vision, we enthusiastically invite you to participate with us in the further evolution of Youth Giving, and to join us in co-creating its future as the global ecosystem to catalyze the impact of young people around the world! The INAUGURAL summit was comprised of four parts, inspired by Nelson Mandela, and focused on the importance of community building:
This high-impact session discussed how to catalyze the impact of young people globally, focusing on the power of inspiration with three intergenerational speakers from Bandladesh and South Africa:
- Professor Muhammad Yunus (2006 Nobel Peace Laureate and Founder, Grameen Bank),
- Siyabulela Mandela, PhD (Regional Project Manager East and Southern Africa, Journalists for Human Rights), and
- Mr. Mohaiminul Raqib (Founder, BIHDP/Member, 3ZERO Club). Each speaker offered encouraging stories of personal inspiration, coupled with real, actionable advice for today’s youth to continue driving change.
The second session included two incredibly inspiring fifteen-year-old leaders:
- Khloe Thompson, Founder of Giving Tuesday Spark and Khloe Cares, and
- Benjamin Wong, CEO of Kid CEO Media.
The third and final session included speakers:
- Chinedu Echeruo, a serial entrepreneur and founder of HopStop.com, and recent co-founder of the Love & Magic Company, and
- Kathleen Murphy Toms, the Director of Digital Strategy for GivingTuesday, the biggest philanthropic movement in history.
Combined, these sessions highlight the importance of coming together, and growing the global youth giving ecosystem in order to catalyze the impact of young people in facing today’s challenges.
The virtual YGS aims to do this by inspiring, connecting, and activating today’s youth, in order to create transformation in communities, and worldwide. Our growing global audience includes young adults, teenagers and their parents, and people of all ages who are working on youth-oriented initiatives – all of whom will be energized by our speakers’ words and examples, and will benefit from discovering a range of platforms through which they can connect and create impact.
